The launch meeting for KurdîLit, the project carried out in partnership with the Diyarbakır Arts Center, Lîs Editions and Literature Across Frontiers, was held in Sümerpark Reception Hall on Wednesday, 29 June 2016. The meeting was attended by writers, publishers and literature lovers from Turkey and abroad. During the meeting, Lal Laleş from Lîs Editions and Mukadder Ezel Yılmaz from Diyarbakır Arts Center explained how KurdîLit Project came to life, and highlighted current activities as well as plans for the future. Following the introduction of the project, the co-mayor of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, Fırat Anlı, and the president of Kurdish Writers’ Association, Yıldız Çakar, shared their thoughts and suggestions about KurdîLit with the audience. The meeting ended following a closing note from Övgü Gökçe Yaşa of Diyarbakır Arts Center. Following the meeting, the audience was presented with copies of the project’s final report, which contains the views and observations from different writers involved in the project and was compiled over the course of various meetings and interviews with Kurdish literary creators.
