Netîce Altûn

Translator and academic.

Born in 1978 in the Pasûr (Kulp) town of Amed (Diyarbakır). She graduated from the Department of English Education at Dicle University. Between 2005 and 2007, she attended the Kurdish/Kurmanji teacher training program at Kurdî-Der (The Kurdish Language Association), Diyarbakır, and gave Kurmanji and Kirmanjki lessons. She is in the Vate Working Group, which is conducting studies in the Kirmanjki dialect of Kurdish. She has a master’s degree in English Language and Education from the Department of Foreign Languages at the University of Çukurova. Currently, she is doing her PhD in foreign language teaching at the Department of Linguistics in the Faculty of Languages, History and Geography at the University of Ankara. Her English, Turkish and Kurdish (Kirmanjki and Kurmanji) short story, poetry and prose translations have been published in many magazines so far.
